MIDDLETOWN, NJ — On Saturday June 24, 2006 the Ryan Andrew Kaiser Memorial Foundation (RAKMF) along with the Jersey Shore Running Club, will hold a 5k run starting at the Mountain Hill School in Middletown, New Jersey. The event will be a 3.1-mile race/walk meandering through Middletown’s scenic horse country. Kid’s race will follow.

The event will start at 9:00 a.m. followed by an award ceremony, drinks, food and fun for the whole family. The Mountain Hill School is located on a very private 12 acres that includes a small farm and new playground.

Ryan's Run is the sole fundraising effort for the RAKMF (www.rakmf.org). "Last year's event was a huge success, we had over 400 runners and this year we expect nearly 500 runners to participate. We are looking forward to seeing the great pool of runners, as well as the many families and children that take part in our kid's race", said Andy Kaiser, Co-Chairman of Ryan's Run.

Middletown Mayor Tom Hall, an avid runner, meets Andy Kaiser, Co-Chairman of Ryan's Run at the finish of the 2005 5K.  Hall is a long time supporter of the Ryan Andrew Kaiser Memorial Foundation.

Middletown Mayor Tom Hall, ran in 2005 and is looking forward to this year's Run. "As a member of the running community, I am delighted to participate. As a member of the larger community, I am delighted to support this very worthwhile charitable event," said Hall.

The RAKMF is a 501-c3 charitable organization established in 2003 after the sudden and unexpected death of Ryan Kaiser. Ryan, the 6-year-old son of Andy and Lauren Kaiser, was born with Congenital Heart Disease; Ryan had three open-heart surgeries before he was 2 years old.

The Foundation has three goals:

• Financially assist local families of critically ill children, who may not otherwise be able to afford proper healthcare.
• Donate funds to hospitals and Doctor groups that specialize in the cure and care of pediatric heart patients. According to the March of Dimes, the #1 birth defect today is heart disease in fact ½ million children in the U.S. have some form of cardiac problem.
• Build a children's park, dedicated in Ryan's name in the town of Middletown New Jersey, to provide children and their families with a safe and fun place to play and enjoy themselves.

Ryan's Run, a Run for the Heart, draws young and old alike.  These pint size participants are all smiles as they near the finish line in the '05 Ryan's Run Kids Race.  They know medals and farm animals await them at the finish!

Mr. Kaiser encourages the community to visit their race site www.ryansrun.org and follow links to explore the different ways Ryan's Run and the Foundation are helping families in need. "Ryan's Run makes it possible for families of critically ill children to meet their financial needs surrounding the difficult and oftentimes lengthy hospital stays; for every two runners who participate in Ryan's Run, our foundation is able to pay for one night lodging for a family near their child and that is priceless", adds Andy Kaiser.

Over the last three years, the Ryan Andrew Kaiser Memorial Foundation has been able to help families with funds for treatment, supplies for their homes and other items that they need for their sick children. Recently, the RAKMF was able to present a $10,000 check to the Ronald McDonald House in Long Branch, as a result of Ryan’s Run 2005.
