News - Family Seeks to honor son with Middletown Park His parents, Andrew and Lauren Kaiser, with the start of the Ryan Andrew Kaiser Memorial Foundation, will honor Ryan Andrew Kaiser, a Middletown boy who died in January at age 6. The Kaisers said they hoe to some day have a park in the township named after their son. Ryan died on Jan. 25 of heart failure. The foundation has three goals: to financially assist families of children with heart disease and cancer who may not otherwise be able to afford proper health care; to donate funds to hospitals and doctor groups that specialize in the cure and care of pediatric heart patients and to build a children's park, named after Ryan. The Kaisers are in the midst of trying to locate a piece of property in Middletown. Currently, the proposal for the park includes walking trails, picnic areas, a playground and a soccer/lacrosse field. "We just have to keep busy," Andrew Kaiser said. Ryan had three open-heart surgeries before he was 2, Andrew Kaiser said. "We thought he would grow old," he said. "We knew he wasn't going to play football, but we thought he would be a father, and we'd be grandparents." According to his father, Ryan was a special boy, very loving, fun and articulate, and he was his brothers' best friend, he said. The couple has two other children, Jack, 3 and Jamie, 11 months old. For those wishing to donate to the foundation, send checks to: The Ryan Andrew Kaiser Memorial Foundation Wachovia Securities, 73 Broad St., Red bank, NJ 07701, reference account number 7100-6228. The Kaisers said they intend to apply for a 501c3 nonprofit status and donations are tax deductible. Press Contact for the RAKMF: Andy Kaiser |
