What Others Are Saying

Click HERE to listen to Andy talk about the RAKMF

The RAKMF receives many letters and emails. People we've helped, Doctors, runners, friends, sponsors and well wishers have taken the time to let us know how our organization is impacting them, what they do or how they feel. Besides the money we raise and distribute, these letters serve as validation that the RAKMF succeeds is what we've set out to do in our mission. We thank all of those who have written us and welcome you to write us as well.

Here is a small sample of the many comments and wishes we've gotten:

2009

Many thanks to all. Again a really fantastic day. Somehow it just gets better ! Well done, you should be proud of all your efforts. And what a great course. As a XC and road mix, the woods arrive at just the right time. The 5k is broken into 3 distinct sections. That all helps you put in a good time. I hope other runners let you know how much they enjoyed RR09.

So thanks. A really great event.

John G.
See you next year !

Congratulations on another successful year! This is my 2nd year running and I am honored and humbled to be a part of such a great event. I'm already looking forward to it next year and hopefully having my wife and young daughter running in the event as well. Thanks again for letting the Middletown community be apart of this first class event. You and your family are a true inspiration.

Yours truly, Brian

Thank you for another memorable race day this year!
This is my second Ryan's Run and both times, I have left the race feeling exhilarated, grateful, and inspired. It is a very special event!

Sincerely,
Ilene

Just wanted to drop you a note to tell you what a great event you ran on Fri-Sat.

Great race, crowd and day. It was my comeback run to get me running again- well not exactly running but on my way. Hope it went well for the foundation.

Hello Andy and Lauren,

It was a pleasure meeting you and your family this evening. Right from the moment I received your first e-mail Andy, I knew this was a special event – I could sense your sincerity, passion and commitment

I am grateful and touched that I was able to be a small part of your mission and hope to continue to be involved in the future. I know the weather will be nice for you tomorrow but even if it isn’t perfect, you will have an excellent turnout because of your enthusiasm and efforts to help others.

Sincerely,
Lenny

Andy,

On behalf of K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital, we just wanted to congratulate you and Lauren and all of RAKMF and the Ryan’s Run committee on the awesome event you hosted this weekend. The crowd was great, the weather cleared up, and the message fantastic. The pre-race BBQ was clearly full of friends and family who really care about the mission and it seemed like everyone enjoyed the brief bit of sunshine that shone on the party. And the race was great!

I hope Ryan’s Run was wildly successful for you; it was a pleasure to be a part of it. Congratulations!

Best,
jen

Congratulations on another great event. It sounds like you are growing every year and we are happy to be a part of it. Kelly and Will, our Brooks tech rep, gave glowing reports about how friendly and wonderful an event Ryan's Run is.

Chris

After spending many years manning the water tables as a volunteer, I decided it was time to move from spectator to runner at the age of 50. I had forgotten what a great experience running a 5k is. It was my first run in over 20 years, and you were a major inspiration. It's no wonder Ryan's Run, with all its outstanding people, is growing every year. Now, I can't wait until next year.

Warmest regards,
Paul

Just a brief note to tell you how much I enjoyed the run this past Saturday. You can always find a road race, but this one was so much more interesting because of the run through Huber Woods and of course for the entire cause. The piece d'resistance was the barbecue the night before.

Keep up your fine work and I look forward to participating again next year.

David G.

Hello,

I ran Saturday in Ryan's Run for the first time. A teacher told me about it and I was thrilled to be a part of this foundation's work to raise money for such an important cause.

Thank you for inspiring us all.

Dear Andy, organizers, and volunteers, thank you all for another wonderful day. it was great fun, and I love to hate your course. Coming out of the woods knowing you still have a mile or so of straight road is a real killer. Great stuff.

Best regards and congratulations for putting on such a special event in the running calendar.

John

Hi, how are you?

My boyfriend and I participated in your run on Saturday.
We wanted to say what a great event it was and how much fun we had.
The run is an inspiration to others it’s so great to see the community and its members pull together for a great cause.

Andy,

Once again you, Lauren and the gang put together an awesome weekend! The weather, setting, atmosphere, people...everything was great.

Congratulations to everyone who puts Ryan’s Run together with you. Thanks for the kind words after the run. I look forward to the day the course is 9 times in and out....Ryan’s Run Marathon!!!!!!!!!

Enjoy this week as I’m sure you will take time to reflect on the events, the money you raised, and of course Ryan.

Thanks for a great time. And thanks for doing what you do. I look forward to next year.

Dear Andy and Lauren:

My first Ryan's run and I truly enjoyed everything from last night to the race, the camaraderie and the course. I run with the Jersey Shore Running Club Friday and Sunday from Bodman and Huber so I was aware of it.

God bless you and the family

Andy

I am sure that you are proud and exhilarated and melancholy all at once in the aftermath of your very successful event on Saturday. Geralyn and I are glad that we could join you and Lauren and your friends and family to celebrate the memory of an exceptional, beautiful little boy. I wish we could have spent more time.

On behalf of my colleagues in the Congenital Heart Surgeons Society, I want to express tremendous gratitude for the generosity and support of the RAK Memorial Foundation. The work that you support will be directed at improving the future outlook for kids with congenital heart disease. What could be a more worthy cause? With warmth and gratitude.

I recently saw an article on you and your foundation you started in honor of your son. My wife and I were very touched by the story and were wondering if there was any way we could help your foundation.

Sincerely,

Joe

I JUST WANTED TO LET U KNOW THAT WE ALL ENJOYED OURSELVES TODAY. IT'S BITTER SWEET BUT I KNOW HOW HARD YOU, LAUREN AND YOUR TEAM WORK AND I JUST WANTED TO LET U KNOW THAT WE WILL BE THERE YEAR AFTER YEAR IN SUPPORT OF WHAT RYAN'S FOUNDATION DOES. NEXT YEAR WE PROMISE TO HAVE A BIGGER CHEERLEADING GROUP WITH BANNERS AND POM POMS. PLS LET US KNOW IF U EVER NEED ANY HELP AND WE WILL GO DOOR TO DOOR TO DO IT!!!

MUCH LOVE,

LAURIE

I just received the email about the run tomorrow. I just opened the email up in the middle of the nurse's station and tears came to my eyes. I've so often thought of Ryan and what a sweet, wise, special boy he was. He really was so special and the picture on the home page just captures how great he was. I can't imagine how hard this has been for your whole family - it took such strength to turn something as horrible as losing him into a way to help others and now he lives on.

Thanks so much for another terrific race. Ryan's Run is a wonderful cause, and I really appreciate all of your efforts. I am an NP in Pediatric Cardiology and have family in Monmouth County. You hosted a great event this weekend for an even greater cause.

God Bless,

Keith

I am a friend and board member of The Kortney Rose Foundation. Your donation to our playground project in Oceanport NJ was so generous and appreciated. It was so important with timing because we really wanted the children who were Kortney's friends to play on this playground before they graduate in June to the next school. This will serve as a memorial but more importantly a source of action based healing for these kids in particular, my daughter was one of Kortney's close friends and she is dealing with this daily. This playground gives her, "a way to swing with Kortney again". This is a priceless gift that we truly appreciate.

Thank you again.

I want to thank you for putting on a fun, well organized run. The course was great, and it was good to be a part of helping a wonderful cause. I'll look forward to next year's run!

Best wishes,

Just wanted to let you know that I am interested in helping next year with Ryan's Run. I was impressed with your efforts this year and I am embarrassed to say that for all the races that I run I was not familiar with this one (and its right around the corner).

The race today was outstanding. I loved the little trail run through the woods. I did exactly what you said about reflecting as pass through the woods. It was very inspirational. All volunteers were great and it was well organized. The RAKMF is my nomination for Community Organization of the millennium. I will look forward to hearing from you soon and keep up the great work.

We would like to thank all of the people involved in the Ryan's Run for putting on such a great event. We felt like it was such a sense of community spirit. We didn't realize until today, that we were fortunate enough to meet Ryan when he was small at a dinner party at mutual friend's. We knew that we wanted to be part of this event when we read about it in the newspaper. We hope that we can be more involved in the foundation and would love to help with the race next year.

Thank you!!

I participated in today's 5k run and wanted to send a note about how wonderful the whole event was. Walking/running through Huber Woods was quite enjoyable and all of the volunteers throughout the course were very energetic and positive and cheered all of the participants on. The activities for the children kept them occupied and excited, and the raffle at the end was an added plus.

Most importantly, I was glad to take part in an event that supports such a good cause. This kind of awareness is necessary and the goals of your foundation are excellent. I look forward to participating in the annual Ryan's Run and supporting the Ryan Andrew Kaiser Memorial Foundation.

...I volunteered yesterday morning at Ryan's Run working a water stop with a few Girl Scouts and a friend. I think that this organization is a great thing and it's amazing that you were able to start this and help so many people. I will most definitely be volunteering again next year at Ryan's Run and if there are any events in the meantime I would love to help there as well. If you ever need extra help with anything at all, I would be more than happy to offer my assistance. Good luck with everything!

Thank you so much,

Kerry S

Ryan's Run was one of my favorite races so far! I loved the trail portion in mile 3 (great markings), and the prizes were awesome! Not to mention the entry fees went to a really worthy cause. What a nice family. I wish them well. Thanks for the opportunity to participate!
